Money calculator

Thailand ATM and card-fee calculator

Work out what the same amount of baht costs with two cards, or two withdrawal sizes. Use your own fees and exchange rates.

Need cash? Compare cash withdrawals. A card purchase or a transfer to a Thai bank account does not give you the same cash in hand.

What do you need?

Same baht, two scenarios

The currency you pay from. This does not select a country or card tariff.

Cash received, excluding fees. Whole baht.

A comparison benchmark, not a live rate. Up to 6 decimal places.

Enter every applicable fee, including 0 for a confirmed zero fee. Blank means unknown. Use the same reference rate for both scenarios.

Scenario A

Check your account, residence, issuing country and transaction restrictions. This tool does not determine eligibility.

Your chosen amount, within the machine and card limits. The final withdrawal may be smaller. Whole baht.

Enter the fee for this card at this ATM. Charged on every withdrawal, including the last.

Card fees and exchange rate (required)

Added once per transaction. Up to 2 decimal places.

One uncapped percentage. Add charges together only if they use exactly the same base and do not compound. Up to 4 decimal places.

After conversion, before other issuer fees. Check this base in the card's terms.

Added to the home-currency conversion cost. Enter 0 if there is no markup; do not repeat it in the issuer fee.

Scenario B

Check your account, residence, issuing country and transaction restrictions. This tool does not determine eligibility.

Your chosen amount, within the machine and card limits. The final withdrawal may be smaller. Whole baht.

Enter the fee for this card at this ATM. Charged on every withdrawal, including the last.

Use this model only for a fixed fee plus an uncapped percentage on the stated base. Minimum charges, tiered rates, allowances and reimbursements are not modelled.

Your comparison

Enter and confirm both scenarios to see totals. Missing information blocks the comparison; it is never treated as a zero fee.

How the calculation works

Let X be the THB value of one withdrawal or purchase, A the ATM fee in THB, and r the reference rate in THB per one unit of home currency. For purchases, A is zero.

  • Reference rate plus markup: converted cost C(X) = X ÷ r × (1 + markup ÷ 100). A 2% markup means a 2% addition to the home-currency cost, not a 2% reduction in the THB rate.
  • Quoted rate: C(X) = X ÷ quoted rate. The markup input is ignored, even if you previously entered one. A lower THB-per-home-unit rate costs more.
  • Issuer percentage: C(X) × fee ÷ 100, or C(X + A) × fee ÷ 100 if the ATM fee belongs in the percentage base. Neither includes another issuer fee. Purchases use C(X).
  • Transaction total: rounded C(X) + rounded C(A) + fixed issuer fee + rounded percentage fee. Add the transaction totals for the comparison.
  • Effective rate: total baht received or purchase value ÷ total home-currency cost, including modelled fees.

The cash mode splits your required baht into the entered withdrawal amount and a final smaller withdrawal where needed. Each gets its own ATM and fixed issuer fee. It never rounds the cash target up to a larger withdrawal.

Money components are rounded half-up for each transaction: to two decimal places for the listed currencies except JPY and KRW, which use whole units. The reference-value row is rounded separately; the conversion-difference row is the rounded converted value minus that reference value. The itemised rows therefore add to the total. A negative conversion difference means the quoted rate is better than your reference rate.

All ATM conversion costs sit in the ATM-fees row. The percentage uses the unrounded converted base. Your issuer may round or apply charges differently, so this is an estimate, not a bank quote.

Assumptions and limits

  • Rates and fees stay the same across the modelled transactions. Use a reference rate without an embedded spread when adding markup. If your quote already includes an issuer charge, do not enter that charge again.
  • The entered cash amount is within the machine and card limits. Daily or monthly limits, limits that include fees, available notes, failed attempts and card acceptance need a separate check. The final cash amount must be dispensable by the ATM.
  • Allowances, reimbursements, minimum fees, tiered pricing, tax, credit-card cash-advance interest, funding a balance and buying or subscribing to a card are excluded. This model is unsuitable when those costs materially affect your comparison.
  • Purchase mode models one purchase at the same THB price. Card-specific merchant surcharges, refunds, cashback and rewards are excluded. A held THB balance is not assumed to have been free to acquire.
  • A quoted conversion rate can represent an ATM or merchant conversion offer, but the tool cannot verify its terms or whether a home-currency transaction attracts different issuer fees.

Check the terms for your account

Wise's ATM-fee guidance ties charges to the card's issuing location and explains how to check the remaining allowance in your account. Choosing GBP here does not mean UK card terms apply. Its card-fee guidance separates spending an existing currency balance from conversion.

For personal accounts registered to a Thai address, Wise's Thailand transition notice includes a restriction on Thai ATM withdrawals. The notice gives different rollout dates and inconsistent card-replacement timing. Check your own account notice with Wise before relying on a card for cash. This calculator does not decide whether a particular Wise card can be used.

For the local ATM side, check the fee shown for your card and the relevant bank's current terms, such as Krungsri's international-card fee schedule. No bank fee or maximum has been pre-filled.
