Nakhon Phanom is a beautiful, bicycle-friendly city with plenty of options for rentals and kilometers of bike tracks running right along the edge of the Mekong river. From here, you can peer directly into Laos and admire the stunning mountains in the background. In the morning, the sun rises from behind the mountains and in the evening, you can see an orange glow highlighting them as the sun sets.

Where to hire a bicycle?

You shouldn’t have any problems finding somewhere to rent a bicycle in Nakhon Phanom. You will most likely be able to hire one from your hotel. If not, head to the clock tower where you will be able to find shops renting them out. From here, you can cycle in either direction for a nice, scenic ride along the Mekong river.

How much does it cost to rent a bicycle?

Bicycle rentals start at around 50 baht per day for something simple and increase from there. Our hotel, NP Residence was in a perfect location to cycle every day. They provided the bicycle for free up to one hour and charged in increments of up to 80 baht per day after that.

What else can you do in Nakhon Phanom city?

After you have finished your bike ride along the river, you will no doubt be hungry or thirsty. Stop for a beer or some food at the walking street night market by the clock tower.
