We woke up on our first full day in Isaan wondering what there is to do in Udon Thani. We couldn’t find much so we rented a couple scooters and looked on Google maps for something that looked interesting. We settled on a lake not far out of the city. When we got there, it wasn’t much of a lake but it was still beautiful, and of course there were plenty of friendly locals around happy to talk to us and have a laugh.
One of the great things about traveling in rural Thailand is that there’s always something interesting to see or do as long as you are seeing it with fresh eyes. It’s probably fairly boring if you’re a local though. All in all, a fun day out.
